Organizational Structure


Management of the National Defense College is divided into 4 main departments, consisting of:

  1. Administrative Department
    The administrative department is responsible for overseeing the operations of the National Defense College and includes the following members:
    1. Director of the National Defense College
    2. Deputy Director of the National Defense College
    3. Director of the Security Affairs Bureau, National Defense College
    4. Deputy Director of the Security Affairs Bureau, National Defense College (1)
    5. Deputy Director of the Security Affairs Bureau, National Defense College (2)

 

  1. Policy and Planning Department
    The formulation of educational policies and plans is the responsibility of two committees:

2.1 National Defense College Council (NDC Council)
According to the Ministry of Defense's regulations on the National Defense College (2nd Edition) of 2008, the duties of the NDC Council are as follows:

(1) Setting policies for the delivery of knowledge.
(2) Approving educational programs and curricula of the National Defense College.
(3) Setting criteria for admission into each academic program, including approving the selection of individuals to be enrolled.
(4) Approving degrees, honorary degrees, and educational qualifications for the various academic programs of the National Defense College.
(5) Proposing the appointment of distinguished experts.
(6) Appointing sub-committees or individuals to carry out any actions under the responsibilities and authority of the National Defense College.
(7) Establishing or dissolving centers, institutes, or units directly under the National Defense College.
(8) Addressing other matters related to the National Defense College's operations.

    11. Director of the Education Development Division, NDC - Assistant Secretary

 2.2 National Defense College Educational Committee

The Educational Committee of the National Defense College has the following duties:

(1) Reviewing and preparing academic programs, curricula, and related activities in line with the policies of the NDC Council.
(2) Overseeing the administration of the National Defense College's education according to the assignments delegated by the NDC Council.
(3) Reviewing and preparing admission requirements, selection criteria, program duration, qualifications, and rights, as well as the educational qualifications for other courses, and submitting them to the NDC Council for approval.
(4) Proposing the appointment and dismissal of distinguished experts.

  1. Administrative Support Department
    This division consists of sections that support educational administration and management in line with the set goals and policies, which include:
    1. Administrative Division: Handles general administrative work, educational administration, educational materials, library services, correspondence, security, personnel, and finances of the National Defense College.
    2. Education Development Division: Responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all educational activities and coordinating with students to ensure the education aligns with the college’s objectives.

  2. Academic Department
    This division consists of five specialized divisions, each responsible for education in different academic fields:
    1. Strategic and Security Affairs Division (SSA): Provides education on the arts and sciences of national power development, including political, economic, social, psychological, and military power, both in peacetime and wartime. This division also evaluates students’ opinions to develop national security policies and offers consultancy on research documents related to strategic matters.
      2. Political and Military Affairs Division (PMA): Educates on political situations, international treaties, relationships, and the political policies and power of Thailand and other countries. It also evaluates student opinions to shape national security policies. This division further provides consultation on military capabilities, military policies, strategies, and power, both for Thailand and foreign nations, and offers research document consulting for military-related topics.
      3. Economic, Social, and Psychological Affairs Division (ESPA): Educates on economic capabilities, economic relationships, and power between Thailand and other countries. It also evaluates student opinions to develop national security policies related to economics. Additionally, this division offers consultations on social and psychological matters, relations, and social-psychological power, both locally and internationally. It also provides research document consulting for social-psychological topics.
      4. Science, Technology, and Environment Division (STE): Focuses on education concerning scientific, technological, and environmental conditions, as well as the scientific and technological power of Thailand and other countries. This division also evaluates student opinions on these matters to inform national security policies regarding science, technology, and the environment and offers consultancy on related research.
      5. Research Documentation and Library Division (RDL): This division offers education related to the preparation of individual research papers, sets standards for writing research, provides advice on topic development, outlines, and research execution, and coordinates with external organizations for research topics and data. They also review, distribute, and evaluate research documents.
